STUDY ON SLEEP

Dr. Tom Cutler just blogged about a new study recently released regarding sleep. Researchers found that sleeping too little or TOO LONG can increase the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes. They observed, "... that over this timespan, approximately 20% of those with long and short sleep duration developed type 2 diabetes or impaired glucose tolerance versus only 7% among subjects who were average duration sleepers." (h/t SD).

The recommended amount of sleep for adults is 7-8 hours a night. Dr. Cutler says if you have trouble sleeping, try taking Melatonin.
